Firefighters Killed in Accident While Searching for Missing Woman
The accident occurred on Saturday evening in Richmond Township, Pennsylvania. At approximately 5:57 p.m., fire companies, along with Berks Search and Rescue, were actively searching for a 60-year-old woman near Kutztown Road, just north of Route 662.
Incident Details
According to the Fleetwood police, the two firefighters were traveling on the shoulder of Kutztown Road in a UTV side-by-side vehicle. As they proceeded, a Toyota Camry, driven by a male, was also heading south on the same road.
- The Toyota was reportedly swerving before the collision.
- Witnesses observed the vehicle leaving the roadway and striking the firefighters’ UTV head-on.
Following the crash, both firefighters sustained fatal injuries. The driver and passenger of the Toyota Camry fled the scene but were quickly apprehended on Krause Road, not far from the incident site.
