Artemis II Crew Prepares Cabin for Day 3 Lunar Flyby

The Artemis II mission is now more than halfway to the Moon. Astronaut Christina Koch said the crew can see the Moon through the docking hatch.

Cabin preparations and timeline

After the first outbound trajectory correction burn was canceled, the crew shifted focus. On Monday, April 6, at about 2:30 p.m., they began readying Orion’s cabin for the lunar observation period.

The Artemis II crew prepares the cabin ahead of their Day 3 lunar flyby observation window. The work concentrated on stowage, viewing positions, and science readiness.

Crew activities and systems checks

Crew members spent time exercising and running medical response drills. They also tested the spacecraft’s emergency communications system in deep space.

The team planned to begin sleep preparations later that night. Crew sleep was scheduled to start around 3 a.m. CDT. Flight day 4 was set to begin after a wake-up at 11:35 a.m. on Saturday, April 4.
