Wagner Moura, Kristen Stewart Star as Vampire Lovers in Mandy Director’s Return

Panos Cosmatos is returning with a new vampire thriller titled Flesh Of The Gods. The film is set in 1980s Los Angeles and centers on a married couple who live double lives.

Cosmatos is best known for Beyond The Black Rainbow and Mandy. He also contributed to Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet Of Curiosities, and Mandy was released eight years ago.

Casting and development

Filmogaz.com reports that Wagner Moura and Kristen Stewart will play Raoul and Alex. The characters are a married couple who descend each night into Los Angeles nightlife.

Oscar Isaac had been attached but left the project due to scheduling conflicts. The casting switch was confirmed late in the film’s development.

Creative team and backing

The screenplay is credited to Se7en’s Kevin Andrew Walker. Adam McKay is producing, and A24 recently boarded the project as distributor.

Wagner Moura arrives fresh from a Best Actor nomination for The Secret Agent. Kristen Stewart is no stranger to vampire stories, thanks to her role in Twilight.

Synopsis

Flesh Of The Gods follows Raoul and Alex as they descend from a luxury skyscraper condo each night. They enter an electric, glamorous, and surreal world of hedonism, thrills, and violence.

They encounter the mysterious Nameless and her hard-partying cabal. The couple becomes seduced into the cabal’s decadent, dangerous realm.
