Easter 2026: State Pension, Universal Credit, PIP Payment Dates Announced

Easter falls on Sunday, April 5, 2026. Benefits and tax credits scheduled for Good Friday and Easter Monday will arrive early.

The Department for Work and Pensions, HM Revenue and Customs, and Social Security Scotland confirmed the change. Payments due on Friday April 3 or Monday April 6 will be issued on Thursday April 2.

Which payments are moved to April 2

The DWP list includes many routine welfare payments. These will be paid early if they fall on the bank holidays.

  • Pension Credit
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

HMRC payments

HMRC will also move some payments to Thursday April 2. Child Benefit and Guardian’s Allowance are included.

Service closures and practical notes

Jobcentre Plus offices and phone lines will be closed on Friday April 3 and Monday April 6. They will reopen on Tuesday April 7.

If your payment date does not fall on the bank holidays, it will be paid on the normal date. PIP payment dates announced by the DWP follow this same schedule.
