NBA Fantasy: Week 24 Start/Sit Guide

Championship week looms for many fantasy managers. Filmogaz.com breaks down tough roster calls for Week 24 in NBA Fantasy.

The schedule favors teams with four games. Two teams play only twice. That makes game counts a central consideration.

Four-game teams Three-game teams Two-game teams
Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Atlanta, Brooklyn, Golden State, Indiana, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Oklahoma City, Sacramento Denver, Portland
Milwaukee, Minnesota, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Antonio, Toronto, Utah, Washington

This piece highlights two Start candidates and one Sit per position. It focuses on players with a start or roster rate of 50% or less in Yahoo leagues.

Guards

Start — Daniss Jenkins, Detroit (14% start rate)

Jenkins steps up while Cade Cunningham recovers from a collapsed lung. He has averaged 18.7 points, 7.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds over his last six starts.

He is shooting 43.8 percent from three during that span. The Pistons have four games this week, increasing Jenkins’ appeal.

Start — Naji Marshall, Dallas (15% start rate)

Marshall has delivered career-best production this season. He averages 15.5 points, 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals overall.

Over his last eight games he is averaging 20.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists. Dallas plays four games this week.

Sit — Cade Cunningham, Detroit (61% start rate)

Cunningham remains sidelined with a lung injury and faces late-week reevaluation. Detroit will have played three of four games by that time.

Given the caution around his recovery, benching him for the week is the safer option.

Forwards

Start — Kon Knueppel, Charlotte (50% start rate)

Knueppel has been a consistent rookie scorer for the Hornets. In 14 March games he averaged 17.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists.

He is shooting 40.7 percent from deep and is likely to see plenty of looks in Charlotte’s four-game week.

Start — Matas Buzelis, Chicago (31% start rate)

Buzelis has emerged strongly down the stretch. Over his last 10 games he has averaged 22.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.0 steals.

He has logged 34.8 minutes per game and produced a 41-point outing plus two 29-point efforts. Chicago’s four-game slate boosts his value.

Sit — Mikal Bridges, New York (52% start rate)

Bridges will play three games this week and has shown uneven scoring recently. Over 12 games he has averaged 9.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists.

He scored in single digits in half of those contests. Managers with three- or four-game alternatives should consider benching him.

Centers

Start — Jabari Smith Jr., Houston (41% start rate)

Smith has become a dependable multi-category option for the Rockets. He has posted back-to-back 20-plus-point games recently.

Across his last 11 games he is averaging 17.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists. He has also logged 36.9 minutes per contest.

Start — Kyle Filipowski, Utah (19% start rate)

Filipowski has thrived with increased opportunity. He posted 25- and 26-point efforts in his last two games, shooting 67.7 percent in that span.

Over 11 games he is averaging 15.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.2 steals in 26.6 minutes. Utah’s four games set up favorable usage.

Sit — Donovan Clingan, Portland (54% start rate)

Clingan can deliver big rebound and block totals, but his scoring has been volatile. He scored six or seven points in three of his last four games.

With Portland playing only twice, consider a three- or four-game big man who can generate more counting stats.

Use these recommendations to refine lineups during Week 24. Filmogaz.com will continue offering targeted advice for key fantasy decisions.
