" Lewis had worked at Michigan from 2022 through early 2025, first as a graduate assistant and later as assistant defensive line coach.

" Page added that "The AAPD Detective Bureau launched an immediate investigation into the incident. This investigation remains active and ongoing. Allegations and Dec. 5, 2024
The accusations were first made public on social media on a Thursday night by reporter Justin Spiro. The woman involved met Lewis through a dating app and communicated with him primarily by text messages and social media. The two met in person for the first time in December 2024 at a hotel in Ann Arbor where the woman was staying for a work function. The woman had decided to end the relationship and was meeting with Lewis so he could return gifts she had given him. Truszkowski, the woman's attorney, said the alleged assault happened that night.
Karen Truszkowski said bluntly of the incident: "He raped her, assaulted her, beat her up. " Truszkowski added that the woman reported the assault to Michigan coach Sherrone Moore the following day.
Sherrone Moore and the university probe
Truszkowski said the woman did not have a physical relationship with Sherrone Moore but had communicated with him through text messages and social media. "As a lay person, she assumed that because he was the head football coach that he would want to address it, knowing it was one of his coaches that had done this, " Truszkowski said. She said Moore told the woman there was nothing he could do, later attempted to pursue a physical relationship with her, and ultimately "weaponized" the report against her. Truszkowski also said Moore sent the woman "lewd and sexually charged" text messages after the alleged incident.
Moore was fired by Michigan on December 10, 2025, after the university said he had an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. He was later arrested and charged with third-degree home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering. Ellen Michaels, an attorney for Moore, denied the latest accusations in full, saying, "Sherrone Moore did not fail to report misconduct, did not reward wrongdoing, and did not harass anyone. "
Paul Corliss, Michigan's assistant vice president of public affairs, called the allegations "deeply concerning" and said the university had launched an investigation into the circumstances and conduct that led to Moore's firing and a broader culture review of the Athletic Department. Corliss said the work is ongoing and that the university will be able to share more when it is completed; the university urged anyone with relevant information to contact the law firm conducting the investigation.
Court filings and earlier incidents
A court clerk confirmed the woman initiated a personal protective order case against Lewis in Washtenaw County 22nd Circuit Court; no documents were publicly available and the order had not yet been granted. Police in Milford, Michigan, responded to a separate incident involving Lewis and the same woman in January 2025. an incident report, officers responded to reports of a loud argument but closed that case due to a lack of evidence to support criminal charges.
The alleged sexual assault occurred near the end of the 2024 football season. Lewis is under active investigation by the Ann Arbor Police Department. This story originally appeared on Feb. 27, 2026; developments continue to unfold.
