The undisputed light heavyweight championship will be on the line in April after alex pereira vacated the belt. Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg are set to meet for the vacant title in a main event announced Friday.
Prochazka and Ulberg headline UFC 327
UFC CEO Dana White announced the 205-pound title fight Friday and confirmed the new light heavyweight matchup will headline UFC 327 on April 11 at Kaseya Center in Miami. The bout is for the vacant undisputed light heavyweight championship.
Alex Pereira's move to heavyweight
Pereira has shown interest in moving up to heavyweight and previously requested a move to the heavyweight division; those developments prompted his decision to vacate the light heavyweight title. Pereira's team did not immediately respond to requests for comment. White did not comment on Pereira's title reign ending, but he has previously expressed support for Pereira to switch divisions. White said on Feb. 21, "He's one of those guys that always steps up and does whatever we need him to. " White also revealed he will announce the fights for the upcoming White House event "this week. "
How Pereira won and lost the belt
Pereira first captured the light heavyweight championship by defeating Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295. He later lost the title to Magomed Ankalaev in May 2025, then won it back by taking down Ankalaev in the first round at UFC 320. If alex pereira officially moves to heavyweight, he would attempt to become the promotion's first three-division champion.
Prochazka's recent history and record
Prochazka is a former light heavyweight champion who was forced to vacate the title in 2022 because of an injury. He owns a 32-5-1 record. Prochazka challenged Pereira for the belt twice, in 2023 and 2024, losing both fights second-round knockout. Since his second loss to Pereira, Prochazka has recorded back-to-back finishes against Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree Jr.; another account lists those consecutive wins in the order of Khalil Rountree Jr. and Jamahal Hill.
Ulberg's rise and record details
Carlos Ulberg lives and trains out of New Zealand and has been steadily working up the light heavyweight ranks since signing with the UFC in 2020. After losing his UFC debut in 2021, he has put together a long winning streak. One report lists Ulberg at 13-1, while another lists him at 14-1-0; both accounts note he has won nine in a row since his 2021 debut defeat. Ulberg is coming off a first-round knockout of Dominick Reyes in September.
The matchup between Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg will decide the vacant 205-pound title at UFC 327 on April 11 at Kaseya Center in Miami. With Pereira vacating the belt and indicating a possible move to heavyweight, the winner will step into the undisputed light heavyweight championship picture.
