Anderson and Awad Earn CW All-Stars Honors

Amelia Awad and Brooklyn Anderson of the University of Calgary Dinos women’s hockey team have achieved significant recognition. They were recently honored as Canada West All-Stars. This announcement came from the conference office on a Friday morning, marking the first time both players received such accolades.

Awad’s Stellar Performance

Amelia Awad earned a spot on the Canada West First Team as a goaltender. She had an exceptional season, following a challenging previous year as the team’s primary starter. Awad made 16 game starts, where she impressively allowed one goal or less in her first six games. Throughout the season, she achieved this remarkable feat in nine games total.

With a record of 12 wins, 3 losses, and 1 overtime loss, Awad posted a goals-against average of 1.87. Her save percentage of .940 ranked third in the conference and placed her among the top-10 in U SPORTS. She made a total of 471 saves this season and recorded two shutouts. Notably, Awad is the first Dinos goaltender to be named to the conference’s top team since Kelsey Roberts in 2020.

Anderson’s Offensive Impact

Brooklyn Anderson was recognized on the Canada West Second Team as a forward. Despite missing the first ten games of the season, she emerged as one of the top offensive players nationally. Anderson scored eight goals and provided nine assists during the season.

She played in only 16 games, which is considerably fewer than most players in the league. Nevertheless, Anderson’s performance placed her in the top-20 across Canada West in goals, assists, and points. Her average of 1.06 points per game ranked third in the conference.
