Kevin Williamson and Neve Campbell have already begun spit-balling ideas for a potential scream 8 even as Scream 7 hits theaters, and executive producer Marianne Maddalena has suggested shooting could begin as early as the fall.

Marianne Maddalena, the franchise’s executive producer, said shooting for Scream 8 may begin in the fall. One account places that start in fall 2026, while another phrasing from the same producer left the timing less definite; producers have not set a firm production date. The possibility of a quick turnaround follows strong early box-office indicators for Scream 7, including $7. 8 million from Thursday previews and an expectation of a robust opening weekend, which creators cite when discussing the franchise’s future.

Neve Campbell’s return as Sidney Prescott — after sitting out the previous installment over a pay dispute — was a central motivator for talk of continuing the series.
