Writers reunited and a large returning cast
The project reunites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans as writers on the screenplay, with Rick Alvarez listed as a producer. The three Wayans brothers had been absent from the last three installments of the franchise before returning for this sequel.
The cast named for the film includes returning performers Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Regina Hall and Anna Faris, alongside Chris Elliott, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri and Anthony Anderson. Scary Movie 6 Trailer teases multiple horror parodies
The teaser material spoofs a string of recent and notable horror films and scenes, including Terrifier 3, a parody of Sinners, a sequence riffing on Weapons, and a send-up of A Quiet Place. The Terrifier 3 parody specifically nods to a mall Santa scene in which Art the Clown blows up a group of children; that sequence features Felissa Rose and includes an appearance by Terrifier producer Michael Leavy. The Felissa Rose segment was initially cut but has since been reinstated in a trimmed-down edit; Rose appears drenched in blood in that scene.

There is an unsettled item in the Sinners parody: a source familiar with the production says the killer’s Ghostface-inspired mask may depict blackface imagery.
