TTC Subway to Halt Over 5km for Entire Weekend
This weekend, the TTC will implement significant subway closures on the Line 2-Bloor Danforth route. Over five kilometers of track will be out of service on Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1. This major disruption stretches from Keele to St. George stations.
TTC Subway Service Disruptions
The closure affects approximately 5.25 kilometers of the second-busiest transit line in Toronto. This measure is part of the TTC’s ongoing track work to address maintenance issues ahead of the FIFA 2026 events in Toronto.
Replacement Services and Station Access
To mitigate commuter inconvenience during the subway outages, the TTC will deploy replacement shuttle buses. Staff will be stationed at various locations to assist passengers. However, commuters may face challenges due to low temperatures, with windchill making conditions feel even colder this weekend.
Station Closures and Access Points
During the service disruption, Lansdowne Station will be completely closed. Other stations along the route will remain open for fare purchases and to connect with surface transit. However, specific entrances will be inaccessible:
- Dufferin Station: Russett Avenue entrance closed
- Ossington Station: Delaware Avenue entrance closed
- Bathurst Station: Markham Street entrance closed
- Spadina Station: Kendal Avenue entrance closed
Expected Resumption of Services
The TTC anticipates that all services will resume by the morning rush hour on Monday, March 2. Commuters are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly during this weekend’s planned outages.
