He won the WBC interim welterweight title in September 2023 with a unanimous decision victory over Yordenis Ugas and was upgraded to full champion in 2024. Since being upgraded he has made two successful defenses, including controversial draws against Abel Ramos and, most recently, Manny Pacquiao this past July.
