Cloudflare outage knocks Bet365 and dozens of sites offline

Cloudflare acknowledged a service disruption on Friday that left users unable to reach dozens of major websites, including bet365, and said it was working to restore service after reports of errors and timeouts. The company issued an update at 2: 45 p. m. Eastern Time saying it was continuing to restore service for impacted customers.

Bet365 and UberEats among hit services

Users reported trouble accessing a range of services: UberEats and bet365 were named by affected users, and some people said they could not reach the Steam gaming service. Other affected platforms cited in the outage included Uber, Workday and Microsoft Outlook. Cloudflare said customers were seeing an unusually high number of 403 error messages and that the problem was affecting the 1. 1. 1. 1 landing page.

Cloudflare's updates and the outage footprint

Cloudflare posted that “Cloudflare is investigating issues with our services and/or network. Users may experience errors or timeouts reaching Cloudflare’s network or services. ” The company noted it had been performing scheduled maintenance at a Portland data center earlier on Friday, though it said it was unclear if that work contributed to the disruptions. An update at 2: 45 p. m. Eastern Time said the firm was continuing to restore service to customers.

What users saw and the scale of reports

DownDetector reports tied to Friday’s disruption peaked at fewer than 500, far lower than a November outage when DownDetector peaked at about 11, 000. Outage reports on DownDetector also peaked around 2 p. m. EST and began to fall shortly after, and Cloudflare had not posted on its “Cloudflare Help” X account about the Friday outage as of 3: 30 p. m. EST. The company’s global network spans servers in more than 330 cities across over 120 countries and connects to more than 13, 000 internet networks.

Cloudflare said it would update its system status page to clarify the scope of the impact as the investigation continued. For now, the next confirmed step is continued restoration work and additional status updates from Cloudflare on the company status page as the firm investigates the outage on Friday.
