Dallas Baptist University (DBU) was evacuated on Thursday morning following unverified threats. The institution was preparing to host Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner.

In a news release, DBU confirmed that it is currently assessing the situation and coordinating with law enforcement. Although no immediate danger was identified, classes were canceled as a precaution.
The university emphasized, “The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff remain our highest priority.” The Dallas Police Department is on-site to assist with the situation.

Secretary Scott Turner was scheduled to deliver a keynote address at 9:30 a.m. during the HUD Center for Faith’s Opportunity Zones Summit.
