Theo James Launches Second Restaurant, Ornella, in Hackney with Team
A new Italian ristorante will open on Wilton Way in Hackney this spring. The project is led by actor Theo James alongside restaurateur Ed Templeton and chef Naz Hassan. They are launching their second restaurant together, named Ornella.
Team and background
The group previously enjoyed strong success with LUPA in Highbury. LUPA has become a beloved neighbourhood spot, but this concept will be different. Ed said the team chose a more ambitious direction, drawing on Milanese tradition.
Menu and concept
The menu will draw from Milan rather than Rome, reflecting Naz Hassan’s background. Planned dishes include risotto alla Milanese, vitello tonnato and tagliatelle al burro e Parmigiano. Dessert will feature Zuppa Inglese, the Italian take on trifle.
Location and space
Ornella has taken over the former Fran’s site at 51 Wilton Way, London E8 1BG. The new restaurant will be almost double the size of LUPA, with more pavement space. Teal by Sally Abé opened a few doors down, helping to make the road a hotspot.
