Quinn Hughes Admits Wild Are Superior to Canucks
Quinn Hughes recently expressed his admiration for the Minnesota Wild, stating that they are a superior team compared to his former team, the Vancouver Canucks. Hughes, who joined the Wild from the Canucks in December, has seen a significant shift in his career, moving from last place to a team currently positioned sixth in the NHL.
Transitioning Teams
After spending seven seasons in Vancouver, Hughes faced challenges adapting to his new environment. He likened the transition to starting a new job, emphasizing the initial unfamiliarity that comes with joining a new organization.
“It’s just you don’t know anyone,” Hughes explained. “If you’re working for a company for seven years and then you go to a new company, you don’t know anyone. That’s gonna be a change.” However, Hughes found support within the Wild’s roster, saying, “Just how special the group is here and how easy they’ve made it for me” has eased his transition.
Performance Highlights
Since becoming part of the Wild, Hughes has thrived on the ice. He has scored two goals and provided 16 assists over 17 games, maintaining a plus-five rating. The team has also enjoyed success, winning nine of those matches.
Canucks’ Struggles
- The Canucks are currently experiencing a challenging period with a 10-game losing streak.
- Hughes remains optimistic about his new opportunity and is focused on his current team’s success.
Reflecting on his past, Hughes acknowledges that his time in Vancouver may weigh on him eventually but insists on concentrating his efforts on the present. “I’m trying to turn a page and use all my energy and focus towards everything I need to be doing here,” he said.
Upcoming Match
The Wild, along with Hughes, are set to face the Toronto Maple Leafs in their next game. This match will provide another opportunity for Hughes to showcase his talent with his new team.
