The news comes from NFL insider Jordan Schultz, who confirmed that Grizzard will meet with the Eagles for their vacant offensive coordinator position. During his time as the offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay, the team experienced setbacks that contributed to his dismissal.
Grizzard’s Coaching Background
Before his one-year tenure with the Bucs, Josh Grizzard built a diverse coaching resume:
- 2012: Team operations intern with the Carolina Panthers
- 2012: Student assistant at Yale
- 2013-2016: Graduate assistant & quality control coach at Duke
- 2017-2018: Offensive quality control coach for the Miami Dolphins
- 2019: Quality control coach for the Miami Dolphins
- 2020-2021: Wide receivers coach for the Miami Dolphins
- 2022-2023: Offensive quality control coach for the Miami Dolphins
- 2024: Pass game coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- 2025: Offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
In his first year with the Buccaneers, Grizzard’s offense ranked third in passing. However, the following season saw a significant drop; the team’s scoring fell from fourth overall to 18th, leading to their first playoff miss in five seasons. This decline was partly attributed to injuries that sidelined key players like wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and running back Bucky Irving, who collectively missed 24 games.
Eagles’ Perspective
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni had the opportunity to observe Grizzard’s coaching up close. During a Week 5 matchup in 2025, the Eagles narrowly triumphed against the Bucs with a score of 31-25. After trailing significantly in the first half, the Buccaneers mounted a comeback, outscoring the Eagles 19-7 in the second half.
The interview with Grizzard reflects the Eagles’ commitment to enhancing their offensive strategies as they seek a new leader to optimize their team dynamics for the upcoming season.
