Midweek Forecast: Expect Persistent Rain and Overcast Skies

The Brazos Valley will see a much wetter midweek as Gulf moisture streams inland and an upper-level low moves overhead. The midweek outlook calls for persistent rain and periods of overcast skies.

Scattered light showers continued Monday into the evening across the region. Gulf moisture increased ahead of the incoming low.

Tuesday conditions

Tuesday will be the wettest day as the upper-level low passes overhead. Widespread showers and a few thunderstorms are expected.

Severe storms are not anticipated. Isolated flooding may occur in low-lying spots and areas with poor drainage.

Rain totals and impacts

Rain totals may range from about a quarter inch to an inch and a half across the region. Isolated higher amounts could occur within stronger storms.

  • Bring rain gear for morning and evening commutes.
  • Avoid driving through standing water or flooded streets.
  • Expect brief, heavy downpours and localized ponding in low spots.

Wednesday and beyond

Another disturbance arrives Wednesday with a 40-50% chance for rain and a few storms. After that, conditions should slowly improve toward the weekend.

A separate system could bring showers Friday or Saturday. The main impacts are expected north of the Brazos Valley.

Temperatures and humidity

Temperatures stay in the 70s during the cooler midweek period. A warming trend will push highs into the mid-80s by Friday.

Humidity will rise late in the week, making conditions feel more summer-like. Rain chances become more isolated as the weekend approaches.
