Suspect Surrenders After Barricading in Violent Domestic Disturbance: DCSO
Negotiators from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office helped end a violent domestic disturbance Saturday evening. Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Twin Peaks Drive at about 4:21 p.m.
A reported victim left the residence before officers arrived. Deputies said the suspect barricaded himself inside the home.
Response and timeline
Dorchester County crisis negotiators led the response. They worked alongside the DCSO SWAT Team and the Aviation Unit.
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office also assisted on scene. Negotiations continued for several hours before the suspect surrendered at about 7:33 p.m.
Suspect
Authorities identified the suspect as 38-year-old Andre Marcel Dumortier of Summerville. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Charges and detention
Dumortier faces a charge of first-degree criminal domestic violence. He is also charged with violating a court order of protection.
He was booked at the LC Knight Detention Center, where bond was denied. The incident remains under investigation by the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.
