Adam Thomas Reveals David Haye’s Impact on ‘I’m A Celebrity’ Experience
Adam Thomas has said campmate David Haye “broke” him during their time on I’m A Celebrity: South Africa. The actor spoke after a tense exchange over a Bushtucker Trial. He also revealed the physical strain the show put on him.
The jungle confrontation
In a recent episode, Haye called Thomas “useless” after Thomas refused a trial. Thomas had said he felt unwell and dehydrated, and so opted out. The series was filmed in September last year.
Haye has been a divisive contestant. Earlier incidents included him likening his girlfriend’s personality to an “ugly bird” and dropping Beverley Callard, 69, from his team because of her age.
Adam Thomas’ public response
On Instagram on Sunday 19 April, Thomas described the experience as one of the toughest of his life. He said watching the show back had been difficult and that he often tried to hide his pain.
Thomas added that he felt pushed to his limits by Haye. He said Haye has apologised and that he has chosen to move on and not hold a grudge.
Health context
Thomas, 37, was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in 2023. He said the condition took a toll during the filming. He regretted not speaking up sooner about his limits.
Support from camp and hosts
Fellow campmates publicly offered support. Scarlett Moffatt praised Thomas’ kindness, while Ashley Roberts expressed sympathy for his struggle.
Hosts Ant and Dec criticised Haye’s approach on the Unpacked podcast. Ant said the behaviour was unpleasant to watch. Dec suggested the jibes crossed a line from banter to something more uncomfortable.
Other camp incidents and next steps
The night before the trial, Thomas admitted sneaking chocolate into camp. As punishment, the group lost two stars from a five-star meal.
Thomas offered to skip his portion, but others insisted he still eat. Haye dismissed the gesture as insincere and suggested Thomas receive a smaller share.
