Port Lavaca Buc-ee’s Transforms into New 7-Eleven Location
Port Lavaca’s Buc-ee’s convenience store is slated to become a 7-Eleven that will include a Laredo Taco Company, a local official confirmed. The change was disclosed after the city received notification about signage plans earlier this month.
Official confirmation and permits
Derrick Smith, director of the City of Port Lavaca Building and Standards Commission Board, verified the rebranding. He said a sign company emailed the city on March 16 with information about the switch.
Sign permits have been filed, according to Smith. No building permits have been submitted yet, and a conversion timeline remains uncertain.
Store details and history
The property is listed as Buc-ee’s Store No. 12 at 2318 W. Main St. This site represents Buc-ee’s earlier, smaller convenience store format.
Buc-ee’s opened its first outlet in Clute in 1982. The company moved into larger travel centers beginning in 2003 in Luling.
What it means for Port Lavaca
If completed, the rebrand will create the third 7-Eleven location in Port Lavaca. It would also be the city’s first store to host a Laredo Taco Company counter.
Across Texas, 7-Eleven operates nearly 1,460 locations. Roughly 500 of those feature Laredo Taco Company offerings.
Company presence and future plans
Buc-ee’s currently runs 36 sites in Texas. The company has stated plans to open two additional Texas locations by 2027.
As of the report’s publication on April 15, 2026, Buc-ee’s had not replied to requests for comment.
