Raptors Updates: Barnes Shines, Quickley Impresses, Ingram and Walter News

Scottie Barnes finished the 2025/26 regular season as one of Toronto’s most complete players. Analysts view him as a near-lock for an All-Defensive team. The Raptors now head into a first-round series with Cleveland where Barnes must lift his play.

Playoff expectations

Head coach Darko Rajakovic says Barnes’ game suits playoff basketball. Rajakovic expects Barnes to thrive on the postseason stage.

Josh Lewenberg of Filmogaz.com noted Barnes is a two-time All-Star. Lewenberg added Barnes will need to increase his impact for Toronto to have a real chance.

Lineup questions and injuries

Toronto faces uncertainty at the point guard spot. Immanuel Quickley is dealing with hamstring and foot issues and missed practice this week.

Quickley’s game-time status for Saturday’s Game 1 against Cleveland remains unclear. With him limited, Barnes is likely to shoulder more play-making duties.

Player developments: Ingram and Walter

Brandon Ingram enjoyed a bounce-back season in Toronto. He earned his second All-Star selection and played 77 regular season games.

That appearance total was his highest since his rookie year nine seasons ago. Ingram had missed many games the prior year with ankle trouble.

He credited the team’s medical staff for monitoring his workload. Ingram said communication helped him know when to push and when to rest.

Emergence of Ja’Kobe Walter

Ja’Kobe Walter improved notably after the All-Star break. He became an important rotation player down the stretch.

Veteran Garrett Temple and coach Rajakovic praised his competitiveness and coachability. Scottie Barnes highlighted Walter’s three-and-D value and timely shooting.
