Live Updates: Friday’s NBA Play-In Tournament Matchups

Four teams face win-or-go-home games Friday as the NBA play-in tournament wraps up. Each winner advances to a first-round matchup against a conference top seed.

Eastern Conference play-in

The Orlando Magic host the Charlotte Hornets for the Eastern Conference’s No. 8 seed. The victor will meet top-seeded Detroit Pistons in the first round.

Orlando lost to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. Charlotte survived a game against the Miami Heat on Tuesday to earn this spot.

Charlotte is trying to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2016. The Hornets won the regular-season series against Orlando, 3-1.

All three Hornets victories over the Magic came by at least 15 points. Orlando can still secure a playoff berth for a third consecutive season.

Western Conference play-in

The Golden State Warriors travel to face the Phoenix Suns for the West’s No. 8 seed. The winner will draw top-seeded, defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Portland Trail Blazers beat Phoenix on Tuesday. Golden State then rallied to defeat the LA Clippers the following night.

The Warriors took three of four regular-season meetings against the Suns. Their most recent matchup was on Feb. 5.

That Feb. 5 game did not include Stephen Curry, Devin Booker, or Jalen Green. Curry arrives after a 35-point outing that featured 27 second-half points against the Clippers.

The victor in Phoenix will advance to play the Thunder in the first round.
