DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Enhances Slo-Mo Footage and Photography Quality

DJI has unveiled the fourth generation of its compact stabilized vlogger camera. The model arrives after months of prior leaks and follows the Pocket 3 release from September 2023.

Availability and bundles

The Osmo Pocket 4 will not launch in the United States. DJI spokesperson Daisy Kong said authorization is still pending.

It will be sold in the UK and across Europe in three bundles. Prices vary by region and feature set.

Bundle Price (GBP / EUR) Key items
Essential Combo £429 / €479 Pouch; tripod-compatible handle
Standard Combo £445 / €499 Wrist strap; gimbal clamp; items from Essential
Creator Combo £549 / €619 Wide-angle lens; mini tripod; fill light; wireless DJI Mic 3

Design and controls

The camera keeps a 1-inch sensor and a 2-inch OLED touchscreen. Rotating the screen into landscape exposes two extra buttons.

One button cycles 1x, 2x and 4x zoom. The other is user-assignable for quick presets.

A new 5D analog joystick sits below the buttons. It flips framing, varies pan speed, and recenters the gimbal.

Imaging performance

DJI says the sensor delivers about 14 stops of dynamic range. That improves detail in shadows and highlights.

Slow-motion capture reaches 4K at up to 240fps. Still-image resolution jumps to 37 megapixels from 9.4 megapixels.

Storage and transfer

The device includes 107GB of internal storage. Transfer speeds reach up to 800MB/s and expansion is possible via microSD.

This combination reduces reliance on external cards for many shoots. It also speeds footage offload for editors.

Filters, lighting, and audio

Six new film-tone filters arrive, including a Fuji-inspired cool-toned option. Beauty filters can smooth skin and brighten complexions.

A magnetic fill light offers three brightness levels and three color temperatures. The Creator Combo bundles a wireless DJI Mic 3 and clips.

Tracking and hands-free control

ActiveTrack 7.0 brings improved subject tracking, even at 4x zoom. It can follow vehicles, animals, and people reliably.

Users can lock tracking to a selected face and prioritize pre-registered faces, such as the owner. Two simple gestures allow remote control.

  • Hold up a palm to start or stop subject tracking.
  • Make a peace sign to begin or end recording.

The new feature set aims to enhance slo-mo footage and boost overall photography quality. Filmogaz.com will monitor further availability updates.
