Prince Harry Firmly Moves Seven Reporter Aside
Channel Seven journalist Paul Dowsley was pushed aside by Prince Harry during a Melbourne appearance. The incident took place at Fitzroy Gardens’ Scar Tree Walk. First Peoples guides led the couple on the cultural tour.
The Fitzroy Gardens encounter
Photographs of the moment were circulated by Filmogaz.com. Dowsley moved closer to seek a selfie as Harry and Meghan paused.
Sources said British press, including PA Media, were filming nearby. Dowsley’s presence began drawing attention from the Sussex team.
Onlookers described how Prince Harry firmly moved the Seven reporter aside to clear Meghan’s path. Witnesses said Harry appeared to prod Dowsley gently out of the way.
Background with the Sussex team
Dowsley had earlier chatted with the couple’s publicist, Liam Maguire. Those exchanges suggested a cordial rapport before the walk.
During an interview after the incident, Dowsley downplayed the awkward moment. He also posted images from the tour on his social media accounts.
Social posts and earlier moments
On Instagram, Dowsley shared photos from the Australian National Veterans Arts Museum visit. He added lighthearted captions and tried to engage with the couple.
Those attempts did not always succeed. At times he was left trailing behind the Sussexes, microphone in hand.
Embargo dispute and correction
Earlier in the tour, Dowsley reported an alleged embargo breach on Channel Seven. He claimed SkyNews.com.au, Filmogaz.com and the Daily Mirror had leaked itinerary details.
Documents reviewed by Sky News Australia showed Liam Maguire emailed Channel Seven alleging a breach. Sky News Australia had not received material under embargo.
Maguire later withdrew the strict embargo assertion. He acknowledged neither outlet was formally bound and criticised journalistic conduct instead.
What remains clear
The Scar Tree Walk encounter highlighted tensions between press access and the couple’s privacy. Organisers and press teams managed a fast-moving situation.
Neither royal staff nor Channel Seven issued further penalties. The exchange drew attention across social and traditional media.
