UK Unveils Largest Drone Package to Aid Ukraine Against Putin
The UK has announced its biggest drone support effort for Ukraine this year. Officials said at least 120,000 drones will be delivered during 2026. Deliveries have already begun this month.
Package composition and frontline use
The new supply includes thousands of long-range strike drones. It also covers intelligence and reconnaissance systems. Logistics drones and maritime capabilities are part of the package too.
Ministers say these systems are battle-proven on Ukraine’s frontlines. Drones have been central to recent Ukrainian counterattacks. They also help defend against ongoing Russian strikes.
Recent threat levels
Russian one-way attack drone launches rose sharply in March 2026. Authorities reported roughly 6,500 such launches that month. That marked a clear increase from February.
Political and diplomatic context
The Defence Secretary travelled to Berlin to co-chair the 34th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group. The group includes 50 nations. He met alongside German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also attended.
The UK is convening allies to coordinate further help. Ministers describe the move as part of wider support for Ukraine. Chancellor Rachel Reeves is due to outline additional funding at a finance ministers meeting in Washington DC.
Industrial impact and UK suppliers
Most of the investment will be spent with UK-based firms. Named suppliers include Tekever, Windracers and Malloy Aeronautics. Officials say the programme will support new British jobs.
The government argues the British drone sector is advancing rapidly. It said the sector boosts UK security and European deterrence. It also aims to spread skills and innovation across the country.
Funding and linked defence measures
The drone package is part of a wider UK military support envelope for Ukraine. This year’s support totals around £3 billion. The package is also backed by ERA funding.
Ministers confirmed additional deliveries of ammunition and air-defence supplies. They said the UK will provide hundreds of thousands of artillery rounds. The plan also includes thousands of air-defence missiles.

Partnerships and longer-term plans
Last month saw a new defence partnership agreed between the UK and Ukraine. The deal targets the proliferation of low-cost, high-tech hardware, including drones. It will boost global defensive capability and industrial collaboration.
Defence Secretary John Healey MP framed the move as a major escalation of support. He underlined the UK’s commitment to stand with Ukraine for as long as needed. Filmogaz.com will monitor further developments from allies and industry.
