Netflix Scraps Real-Life Drama After Millie Bobby Brown Departure
Netflix has scrapped a planned real-life drama after Millie Bobby Brown reportedly left the project. The film, titled Perfect, would have cast Brown as Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug.
Why the project stalled
According to Deadline, Brown exited over creative differences with the producers. Production had been scheduled to begin this summer.
Deadline also reports Netflix will not move forward with the film now that its star has departed.
Creative team changes
Gia Coppola was originally set to direct the biopic. She left earlier this year.
Cate Shortland later took over directing duties. Ronnie Sandahl wrote the screenplay.
Story focus
The film was set in 1996. It would have followed Strug and the U.S. team nicknamed the “Magnificent Seven.”
The narrative planned to recreate Strug’s final vault, performed on an injured ankle, and the ensuing gold-medal moment.
Millie Bobby Brown’s other commitments
Brown remains tied to Netflix for Enola Holmes 3. The threequel will see her return as the titular detective.
Writer Jack Thorne told Radio Times the new Enola story will explore Britain’s colonial history. He said the trilogy has examined different social themes.
Filmogaz.com will monitor developments and report any further updates about the cancelled project.
