Millie Bobby Brown Departs Netflix’s Olympics Film ‘Perfect’
Millie Bobby Brown has officially departed from the Netflix sports drama titled “Perfect,” leading to the project’s cancellation. Her exit is attributed to creative differences with the production team.
Details of the Film ‘Perfect’
Originally scheduled to start production this summer, “Perfect” was intended to showcase the inspiring story of Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug. Brown was set to portray Strug, who gained fame as a member of the celebrated 1996 USA women’s gymnastics team, known as “the Magnificent Seven.”
Background on Kerri Strug
Strug is famously remembered for her pivotal role in securing the team gold medal at the Olympics. Despite competing on a severely injured ankle, she executed a vault that has become one of the most iconic moments in Olympic history. The unforgettable image of her landing the vault, only to be helped by her coach Bela Karolyi, remains etched in the minds of fans.
Changes in Production
- Gia Coppola initially directed the film.
- Coppola departed earlier this year, with Cate Shortland taking over the direction.
- Ronnie Sandahl was tasked with writing the script.
With Brown’s departure, Netflix is no longer pursuing the project. As of now, both Netflix and Brown’s representatives have not provided comments regarding the actress’s exit.
Future Projects Involving Millie Bobby Brown
Despite this setback, Netflix continues to work with Millie Bobby Brown. The highly anticipated “Enola Holmes 3” is set to premiere later this year. Additionally, there are several upcoming films in development featuring Brown, including:
- Just Picture It
- Nineteen Steps (based on her debut novel)
Brown and Netflix have also recently concluded a successful collaboration with the record-breaking final season of “Stranger Things,” which wrapped up in December.
