Honours and events at Aintree

Organisers revealed Rachael will be inducted as a Grand National Legend for 2026. The honour places her alongside figures such as Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman and JP McManus, and horses like Red Rum and Tiger Roll.

On opening day, April 9, a plaque will be unveiled at Aintree Racecourse. A newly named Blackmore’s Bar will be officially opened by Rachael on the same day.

The facility is alcohol-free and serves Lavazza coffee, bakes and snacks. MurWalls produced artwork for the space, with contributions from Holy Rosary School children. The organisers will give away the first 100 coffees free to mark the opening.

Rachael Blackmore’s career and retirement

Rachael won the Grand National in 2021 on Minella Times. The horse was owned by JP McManus and trained by Henry de Bromhead. The victory came by six and a half lengths.

She rode in the Randox Grand National seven times and placed third in 2024 aboard Minella Indo. In May 2025 she retired from race riding with 575 career winners. Her record included 18 Cheltenham Festival victories.

Rachael, now expecting a child, described the honours as deeply meaningful. She also said she looked forward to seeing fans enjoy the new bar and the festival week.
