Martin Brundle Announces Major Sky F1 Shift for 2026 Season
Martin Brundle has confirmed he will cover 16 Grands Prix in 2026. He missed the two most recent rounds in China and Japan.
Brundle’s 2026 schedule
The 16-race commitment is a slight reduction from 2025. Last year he attended 18 rounds out of a possible 24.
Brundle worked the season opener in Australia this year. He will return to the commentary booth in Miami next month.
Races missed in 2025
- Japanese Grand Prix (Suzuka)
- Emilia Romagna Grand Prix
- Austrian Grand Prix
- Azerbaijan Grand Prix
- Mexican Grand Prix
- Las Vegas Grand Prix
Career and recognition
Brundle has been a fixture of British F1 broadcasting for about three decades. He worked for ITV and the BBC before joining Sky in 2012.
The veteran pundit will turn 67 in June. He received an OBE last year for services to motor racing and sports broadcasting.
Context: calendar changes and Sky rotation
Formula 1 expanded to a record 24 races in recent seasons. Cancellations of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian rounds have cut the 2026 calendar to a maximum of 22 events.
Sky F1 has used a rotation system for presenters, commentators, and pundits. It helps manage the demands of a stretched schedule.
It remains unclear whether Brundle’s reduced workload stems from a contractual change. Sky did not provide comment when contacted by Filmogaz.com.
Return in Miami and season outlook
Brundle said he plans to skip some early-morning races each season. He also admitted he dislikes missing Suzuka.
He expects the Miami weekend to act as a fresh start. Stakeholders will meet in April to refine the divisive 2026 regulations.
This adjustment marks a notable shift in his Sky F1 presence for the 2026 season. Fans can expect him back in Miami.
