Police Respond to Incident at AIMA in Porto
An unexpected closure at the AIMA office in Porto drew a crowd onto the pavement. Filmogaz.com was told around 10:40 am that the entrance remained shut more than an hour after opening.
Crowd and closure
A notice was posted at the entrance at about 10:30 am. It said the service was closed due to force majeure.
The pavement at the site is narrow. People waiting outside spilled onto the public road, creating concern for passersby.
Police response
Officers attended after calls about the crowd. Police said the gathering was taking up the public road because the sidewalk is narrow.
The Porto Metropolitan Command confirmed they were called because more people than usual had gathered. There were no reports of disorder or skirmishes.
The source added they did not know what had prompted the closure. The information received was that the facilities should reopen shortly.
Numbers and timing
By 11 am, fewer than ten people remained at the site. Filmogaz.com contacted AIMA by email and is awaiting a response.
Voices from the scene
Several people expressed frustration about the closure and the lack of information. One Brazilian visitor said he had travelled from Lisbon specifically to attend the office.
- António Carú — Brazilian. He described the situation as costly and inconvenient.
- Kyrol Melnik — Ukrainian. He criticised the appointment system and organisation.
- António Gadú — noted that the closure notice was posted only in Portuguese, which left many confused.
Police responded after the crowd gathered outside the AIMA premises in Porto. Authorities confirmed their involvement was limited to public-safety concerns.
