Pogon Coach Warns Legia: “Expect Struggles in Szczecin”

Pogoń Szczecin returns to action after the international break on the holiday Monday. The club has struggled since the start of the PKO Ekstraklasa season. They sit four points above Legia Warszawa, coached by Marek Papszun.

Coach Thomas Thomasberg called the coming weeks decisive for the league and his team. Eight matches remain, and every point matters. A positive result could move Pogoń away from the relegation zone.

Thomasberg’s experience with Legia

Thomasberg has faced Legia frequently in his career. He met them as Midtjylland coach in European competition. He also watched a Warsaw match from the stands before joining Pogoń.

There were two meetings against Legia last autumn. The opponent has since changed coach and formation. Thomasberg still views Legia as a strong side.

Injury concerns and squad choices

Big doubts remain over Attila Szalai after he returned injured from the Hungary camp. Jose Pozo, Linus Wahlqvist and Rajmund Molnar are confirmed absentees. Thomasberg is considering starting Natan Ława again.

The loss of Pozo is a serious blow, the coach admitted. He said the team must find other options. Other players have trained well and shown good form.

Home form and warning to visitors

Pogoń’s record at home reads eight wins, two draws and three defeats. Thomasberg stressed that opponents suffer when they visit Szczecin. Pogon Coach Warns Legia: “Expect Struggles in Szczecin”.

The coach said the next match will not decide the season. Still, a win can create important breathing room above the drop zone.
