Elle Evans Dominates Final Four 3-Point Championships with Three Titles for Kansas

Kansas senior guard Elle Evans dominated the Final Four 3-Point Championships, winning three events Friday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. She anchored a trio of victories at the 37th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships.

Team Shootout victory

Evans teamed with Purdue’s Fletcher Loyer and Portland State’s Jaylin Henderson in the Pedigree Team Shootout. Their group completed the course in 38.1 seconds. That time was more than 20 seconds faster than the other two teams.

Celsius Women’s 3-Point Championship

Evans shared the best first-round mark of 19 with Marquette’s Lee Volker. Indiana’s Shay Ciezki and Notre Dame’s Iyana Moore also advanced with scores of 17. Evans posted 22 in the semifinals and repeated that total in the final to claim the women’s title.

Skechers Battle of the Champions

As the women’s winner, Evans advanced to the Skechers Battle of the Champions. She faced DePaul’s men’s champion CJ Gunn, who set a target of 23 points.

Evans missed her opening shot, then hit six straight attempts. She was perfect on her third rack from the top of the key. Trailing 23-19 going to the final rack, she hit three of the first four shots. She sank the final money ball to overtake Gunn and secure her third title of the night.

Career and Kansas records

Evans recently completed a two-year run at Kansas. She leaves tied for the program’s all-time lead in three-point field goal percentage.

The Edwardsville, Illinois native made 137-of-314 three-point attempts, a 43.6 percent rate. That percentage matches Sandy Shaw’s school record, set in 1988. Evans’ 137 made threes are tied for seventh in KU history.

Her single-season totals include 69 made threes last season, tied for second in school history. This season she made 68 triples, good for fifth all-time. She finished her senior year at 45.3 percent, converting 68-of-150 attempts. She ranked among national leaders in three-point percentage.

Player reaction

Evans called the experience memorable and humbling. She said she felt blessed to compete among elite athletes and to cap her college career on such a high note.

The State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships will air nationally on ESPN at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday, April 5. The broadcast precedes the NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship game.
