Yankees Reveal Today’s Lineup Against Miami Marlins
USA Olympic gold medalists Jack Hughes and Aerin Frankel threw ceremonial first pitches at Yankee Stadium before the home opener. The tosses took place ahead of Friday’s game and added a celebratory note to the event.
The Yankees followed with a convincing win over the Marlins in Friday’s opener. The club returns to regular play Saturday night.
Starting pitching matchup
Left-hander Ryan Weathers will make his first home start for the Yankees. He will face Miami right-hander Max Meyer at 7:05 p.m.
The game will be televised on YES. Fans can tune in for the matchup and pregame coverage.
Weathers’ previous outing
Weathers’ first start came last Monday in Seattle. He worked 4.1 innings, took a no-decision and allowed one run in a 2-1 Mariners victory.
That Seattle game remains the Yankees’ only loss so far this season. The club has started the year with strong pitching results.
Pitching through seven games
Yankees pitchers have yielded eight runs over the team’s first seven games. That total matches the fewest allowed in that span by any MLB team.
The mark equals similar starts by the 2002 Giants and the 1993 Braves. The early-season staff performance has been notable.
