Seattle Easter Weekend: Enjoy Egg Hunts and a Grand Floral Parade

Spring weather looks favorable for Seattle Easter Weekend activities across the region. There are festivals, conventions, family rides and sports on the holiday weekend.

Conventions and fan events

Downtown Seattle hosts Sakura-Con, a major anime and manga gathering. The event features panels, cosplay, concerts and more than 20 video game tournaments.

Sakura-Con also includes a charity auction and a themed prom. Full schedule and ticket details are on the convention’s website and linked at Filmogaz.com.

In SeaTac, Norwescon runs at the DoubleTree Hotel Seattle Airport. The science-fiction and fantasy convention lists more than 200 panelists and vendors.

Attendees can expect tabletop gaming, workshops, dances and a masquerade contest. The weekend also features a film festival, laser tag, Nerf battles and live concerts.

Parade and Daffodil Festival

The Daffodil Festival continues Saturday with its signature procession across Pierce County. Organizers say the grand floral parade will include more than 100 floats and multiple marching bands.

The procession travels through Tacoma at 10:15 a.m., reaches Puyallup at 12:45 p.m., and moves through Sumner at 2:30 p.m. The route finishes in Orting later in the afternoon.

Railroad Easter rides

Several regional railroads offer Easter-themed excursions for families. The Everett Railroad runs an Easter Eggspress on Friday afternoon with an egg hunt, a visit from the Easter Bunny and a petting zoo.

The Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad operates the Easter Bunny Express Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and again Easter Sunday at 4 p.m. A Chehalis departure runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Each ride includes family activities such as mini golf and bounce houses after the trip. The Easter Bunny will make appearances at the stations.

Community egg hunts and local parades

Families can enjoy egg hunts at neighborhood community centers across the city. Participating locations include Ballard, Bitter Lake, Delridge, Garfield and Green Lake.

Other centers taking part include Montlake, Northgate, Queen Anne and South Park. Most community hunts are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Snohomish hosts its Easter Parade on Saturday at 10 a.m., following 1st Street. The parade concludes with an Easter Bonnet Contest open to all ages.

Sports

The Seattle Seawolves play Old Glory DC at Starfire Sports tonight with kick-off at 7:30 p.m. Local rugby fans can catch that evening match.

The NHL’s Seattle Kraken face the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday at Climate Pledge Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. as the team nears the season’s end.
