After a scoreless final regular-season home game against Iowa State, he has scored in double figures in four consecutive games. Over his last five outings he averages 12.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He shot 63.9 percent overall and 63.6 percent from three, with a 73.6 effective field goal percentage.

Versatility and role

Kharchenkov stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 220 pounds. He can defend at least three positions and shift between perimeter and interior roles.

He logged minutes at power forward when Koa Peat was sidelined. Tobe Awaka and Motiejus Krivas also spent time on the bench due to foul trouble in that Houston game.

Key performances

In the pivotal road win at Houston, Kharchenkov produced 16 points, nine rebounds and three assists. The final score in that contest was 73-66.

When Dwayne Aristide and Koa Peat missed games in February, his role expanded. During that stretch he averaged 15.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals while shooting 43.1 percent.
