Authorities were dispatched at about 3:55 p.m., according to Lt. Steve Beardshall of the West Valley City Police Department. The pilot reported the crash himself, and neither occupant required transport to a hospital.

The flight left South Valley Regional Airport bound for Wendover. Crews say the plane turned back after reaching an area west of Delle in Tooele County.
