Remembering Phil Brock: Celebrated Actor and Iconic Industry Influencer
Phil Brock, a notable figure in Australian motorsport, has died unexpectedly at the age of 75. Known as “Split Pin,” he was the youngest of four Brock brothers, including Neil, Peter, and Lewis. Phil often operated in the shadow of his illustrious brother Peter, a nine-time Bathurst winner, while simultaneously establishing his own successful racing career.
Phil Brock’s Racing Journey
Brock made five starts at the iconic Bathurst 1000 between 1973 and 1981. Notably, in 1983, he did not compete as Peter and co-driver Larry Perkins took over the second Commodore after a mechanical failure. The 1983 race was monumental, as Brock, Perkins, and John Harvey formed the first three-driver combination to win the Bathurst 1000.
