TEAM Set for Opening Round Selection
Senior coach Dean Cox has officially announced his team for the eagerly awaited season opener against Carlton. The Sydney Swans will face Carlton at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Thursday night as part of the 2026 AFL season kickoff.

This match will mark the first appearance for three new recruits: Charlie Curnow, Jai Serong, and Malcolm Rosas Jr. Coach Cox expressed enthusiasm about the newcomers joining the squad. “It’s a pretty special time for them,” he stated, highlighting their hard work during the offseason.

Tom Papley is set to play at half forward after successfully returning from injury during the AAMI Community Series. Logan McDonald will also make his return, featuring in his first AFL game in over a year after recovering from an ankle injury that sidelined him throughout the previous season.
Captain Callum Mills is participating in his first opening-round match in three years, stationed at half back, while newly appointed vice-captain Isaac Heeney will be positioned in the midfield.
