Bill Clinton Deposition: Boebert defends Clinton photo leak
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo. ) defended her decision Thursday to share a picture of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton taken before a closed-door deposition, as lawmakers prepared for the bill clinton deposition. Boebert said she shared the image with right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson after receiving permission from the committee’s staff, and Johnson then posted the image on social media.
Boebert’s explanation and photo details
Boebert said the image was taken before the hearing began and that she shared it after getting permission from the committee’s staff. She described the photo as a single image and said the committee later agreed that no one would take photos during the deposition.
Interview with Chris Cuomo
In an interview with Chris Cuomo on Thursday, Boebert deflected blame onto Democratic committee members who she said were sharing updates about Clinton’s deposition with reporters. She said, “However, there were Democrats and those at the minority party that were releasing information about the hearing throughout the day, topics that were discussed were being leaked to the media, ” and added, “And so there was a lot of things that were coming out of that room, but regardless, it was a photo. ”
Bill Clinton Deposition on Friday
The committee subpoenaed Hillary Clinton’s testimony as part of its probe into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The former Secretary of State and former President Clinton had battled for months with the committee about the deposition. Hillary Clinton underwent a six-hour deposition in Chappaqua, N. Y., in which she repeatedly denied any knowledge about Epstein’s crimes.
Clinton testimony and Epstein probe
During her appearance, the former first lady told reporters she only knew Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s associate who was convicted on sex trafficking crimes, “casually as an acquaintance. ” The Clintons, who have not been accused of any wrongdoing, spoke with congressional investigators after months of back and forth over their willingness to testify.
Bill Clinton’s prior statements
Bill Clinton is set to testify before the committee Friday. The former president has previously gone on record about his relationship with Epstein, addressing his inclusion on the flight logs of the sexual predator’s private jet in a 2024 memoir. He also wrote in a 2024 autobiography: “Traveling on Epstein’s plane was not worth the years of questioning afterward, ” and “I wish I had never met him. ”
Committee members’ agreement later in the day that no photos would be taken during the deposition followed Boebert’s decision to share the image. Benny Johnson’s subsequent posting of the photo on social media drew attention as the committee continued its inquiry into Epstein and related figures.
As the committee moves forward, the focus remains on the subpoenaed testimony, the handling of deposition protocols, and the scheduled testimony of the former president on Friday.
