Harry and Meghan Visit Jordan, Including a Stop at Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle landed in Amman on Wednesday for a two-day humanitarian visit that will include a stop at the regional headquarters of World Central Kitchen, founded by their friend jose andres. The trip centers on health and displacement issues in the region and brings the couple back to an on-the-ground agenda they pursued while members of the royal family.
Meetings in Amman and Za'atari
Invited by World Health Organization director general Dr. Tedros Adhanom, the couple took part in a roundtable at the UN-affiliated WHO headquarters in Amman and then traveled north to the Za'atari refugee camp. At Za'atari, which opened in 2012 and is home to some 45, 000 refugees, Harry and Meghan visited the Questscope youth program center and met Syrian refugees; an international refugee agency noted they joined children in football, art and music.
Visit to Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen
Another planned stop is the regional offices of World Central Kitchen, the food-aid logistics charity founded by chef Jose Andres, where the couple will discuss the charity’s work in the context of the Gaza war. The relationship between the couple and jose andres dates back to 2020, and the chef was a guest on the second season of the duchess’s cooking show, With Love, Meghan.
Hospital visits and focus on mental health
The pair also visited a hospital in Amman, where they met children evacuated from Gaza for medical treatment. Their office said the two-day visit will focus on humanitarian health response, mental health and support for vulnerable communities affected by conflict and displacement. Prince Harry said released by the WHO: "We remain deeply committed to advancing awareness, reducing stigma and expanding access to mental health support for all those affected by conflict and crisis. "
The visit follows a pattern of recent international engagements by the couple: their first stops since stepping back from royal duties and moving to California in 2020 included trips in 2024 to Nigeria and Colombia. This Jordan trip has drawn attention in Britain for resembling official royal travel while the couple do not represent the royal family.
Their schedule in Jordan will continue over the two-day stay with further on-the-ground visits funded by their Archewell Foundation, including an initiative that arranges medical evacuation for children injured in the Gaza war. Officials say the remaining events will include the regional World Central Kitchen meeting and additional meetings focused on health and displacement.
