NBA Play-In Tournament East Bracket and Schedule Announced

With the regular season largely complete, the NBA Play-In Tournament will decide the final playoff berths. The event runs April 14 through April 17.

Format and stakes

The Play-In involves seeds seven through ten in each conference. The winners secure the final two playoff spots.

No. 7 hosts No. 8. The winner earns the No. 7 playoff seed. The loser faces the winner of No. 9 versus No. 10. The loser of the No. 9/10 game is eliminated.

Advancing teams will meet the top two seeds in each conference. In the East, those are the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics. In the West, they are the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.

• Tuesday, April 14 — No. 10 Miami Heat at No. 9 Charlotte Hornets, 7:30 p.m. ET.
• Wednesday, April 15 — No. 8 Orlando Magic at No. 7 Philadelphia 76ers, 7:30 p.m. ET.
• Friday, April 17 — Winner of No. 9/10 at loser of No. 7/8, 7:30 p.m. ET.

Philadelphia holds the tiebreaker over Orlando. Those records determine hosting and matchups.

Western bracket and schedule

Western Conference games follow the same format and timing windows. Some records may update after Sunday games.

• Tuesday, April 14 — L.A. Clippers/Portland Trail Blazers at No. 7 Phoenix Suns, 10 p.m. ET.
