Çiğli Advances Social Welfare and Environmental Projects Without Pause
The Çiğli Municipality continues to prioritize social welfare and environmental enhancement initiatives without interruption. During the month of Ramadan, a wide range of services is provided, from food distribution to community cleaning efforts. The municipality is actively involved in ensuring that the district’s living standards improve through various projects.
Efforts in Social Welfare and Environmental Projects
Çiğli Municipality’s commitment to public service includes specific actions such as:
- Distribution of food packages to those in need.
- Cleaning and maintenance of mosques.
- Food inspections at local markets and establishments.
Community Connections During Ramadan
Throughout Ramadan, the municipality has organized iftar programs that foster community togetherness. These programs commenced on February 23 at the Pelikan Social Facility and will continue in various neighborhoods, concluding with an event at the Yakakent Market on March 18.
Environmental Improvements
The clean-up and environmental enhancement projects are in full swing across numerous neighborhoods. The Çiğli team works to increase the quality of life by:
- Thoroughly cleaning streets in various neighborhoods, including Ahmet Taner Kışlalı, Aydınlıkevler, and Atatürk.
- Renovating parks and restoring green spaces.
A notable project is the construction of a new modern park in Atatürk Neighborhood covering 1,400 square meters. This park will feature an amphitheater-style seating area, play facilities for children, and sports areas for adults, making it accessible to all age groups.
Sustainable Landscaping Practices
In collaboration with the Parks and Gardens Directorate, a sustainable approach to landscaping is being adopted. In this initiative, drought-resistant plants are selected for planting, which includes:
- 35 trees
- 800 shrubs
- Various ground cover plants
Infrastructure and Road Works
The Çiğli Municipality has been actively collaborating with the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality to address asphalt needs in Köyiçi and İnönü neighborhoods. Mayor Onur Emrah Yıldız emphasized that significant efforts are being made to resolve long-standing road and infrastructure issues.
Upgrading Lighting and Infrastructure
In addition to asphalt projects, lighting systems will also be modernized. Mayor Yıldız noted that the replacements will enhance safety and aesthetics. The upgrades aim to create a comfortable environment for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Community Safety Measures During Ramadan
As part of their welfare initiatives during Ramadan, the municipality conducts food inspections at numerous local business establishments. These inspections focus on:
- Checking expiration dates and storage conditions of food products.
- Ensuring compliance with labeling regulations.
When violations are found, appropriate legal actions are taken to uphold consumer rights as per the Consumer Protection Law No. 6502.

Mayor Yıldız reaffirmed the municipality’s dedication to making Çiğli a more livable and modern city. He stated, “We continue to provide services that meet the needs of our citizens, from social welfare projects to environmental enhancements.” With ongoing efforts, the municipality aims to create a healthier, safer, and more vibrant community for all residents.
