Berliner Peggy Ferber woke up early to visit Times Square in the snow. New Yorker Mickey Blank said "doesn't happen too often in the city that the road is covered and you have to go through mountains of snow" and told she found the conditions "a very unique experience. " Some visitors to the city were charmed by the conditions.
News crews battled extreme conditions as the storm moved through. Live coverage for the day was brought to an end with these conditions still unfolding on the ground.
