Project Indigo Extends Features to iPads and iPhone 17e

Adobe has expanded its experimental app, Project Indigo, to include iPads and the new iPhone 17e. This update introduces several features aimed at enhancing user experience.

New Features of Project Indigo

Project Indigo was first announced in June by Adobe. It uses a custom computational photography pipeline to create images with a natural look resembling SLR cameras. The app leverages artificial intelligence to provide unique treatments for subjects and skies, resulting in stunning photo outputs.

Key Enhancements

  • Grid View: A new layout in the filmstrip makes finding photos easier.
  • Multi-Selection: Users can select multiple photos for sharing or deletion.
  • Photo Filtering: The app allows selections between All Photos, Indigo Album, and Favorites.
  • Focal Length Display: Users can enable a display of the 35mm equivalent focal length for rear cameras.

Device Compatibility

The latest update includes compatibility for devices with a minimum of 6GB of RAM. The supported iPads include:

  • iPad Pro models from 2020 and later
  • New iPad Air models (M1 and later)
  • Latest iPad mini
  • 11th-generation iPad

While iPhone 17e users will benefit from full support, Adobe has noted that the app only offers “initial support” for iPads. It is still undergoing tuning for optimal performance on these devices.

Background on Project Indigo

Since its introduction, Project Indigo has aimed to improve photography through innovative technology. Adobe faced challenges in compatibility with the iPhone 17 series earlier, which were resolved after the release of iOS 26.1. With each update, Adobe continues to refine the app based on user feedback and technological advancements.
