Fire response, past incident and what happened to residents
Firefighters were on scene working to contain the blaze as videos showed firefighters operating around the building. A previous fire at the same complex in March 2019 was extinguished within 30 minutes by approximately 30 firefighters, with crews from neighboring departments assisting. At that time, the Town of Morrisville said 35 residents and nine pets were displaced and fire officials estimated about 17 apartments were affected; no injuries were reported in the 2019 incident.
One resident, Michael Giangrasso, said he had just stepped out to walk his dog when the fire started and that when he returned his apartment was gone. Other residents shared brief eyewitness accounts on social media, describing heavy smoke and seeing multiple fire trucks en route or at the scene.
Fire crews remained on scene working to contain the blaze, and videos continued to show large flames and thick smoke as responders operated at the complex. Officials had not released a cause or an official tally of any displacement or injuries at the time crews were still engaged on site.
The next confirmed development on the incident was ongoing fire‑containment work by local crews at the Camden Westwood complex; emergency responders continued operations at the scene as they sought to bring the blaze under control.
