Munich: Lawmakers Acknowledge Lasting Impact of Trump’s Greenland Proposal

Following the Munich Security Conference, U.S. lawmakers emerged with a renewed commitment to repairing trans-Atlantic ties, particularly after the controversial remarks made by former President Donald Trump regarding Greenland. His proposal to acquire the island through invasion or purchase left a lasting impact, prompting discussions among many at the conference.

During the three-day summit, representatives from both parties acknowledged that Trump’s threats had significantly affected U.S.-European relations. Senator Lisa Murkowski from Alaska noted the issue distracted from pressing matters, including the war in Ukraine and growing concerns about China.
