Victor Dodig Named CEO as Darren Entwistle Retires from Telus in June

The telecom industry is witnessing a significant leadership change as Telus Corp. announces the retirement of long-serving CEO Darren Entwistle. Effective June 30, 2026, Victor Dodig will take over the role, steering the company towards its future. Dodig is currently a board member and previously served as the CEO of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

Darren Entwistle’s Legacy at Telus

Darren Entwistle joined Telus in 2000 and played a pivotal role in transforming the company from a regional telecommunications provider into a major global digital enterprise. Under his direction, Telus’s enterprise value surged more than five times, reaching an impressive $57 billion over 25 years.

Farewell Message from Entwistle

As he prepares to step down, Entwistle reflected on his tenure. He stated, “It has been a tremendous privilege to be a member of the Telus team… to support them has been the greatest honour of my career.” His commitment to customer service and community support has been a hallmark of his leadership.

Board Recognition

John Manley, chair of Telus’s board, expressed gratitude for Entwistle’s transformative contributions, thanking him for his leadership over the past 26 years. As he exits his role as CEO, Entwistle will also leave the board but will provide advisory support to Dodig until April 2027, ensuring a smooth transition.

Victor Dodig: The Incoming CEO

Victor Dodig is set to inherit a well-established leadership role. He was the president and CEO of CIBC from 2014 to 2025. In his new position, he aims to build on the legacy established by Entwistle.
