Wildlight Entertainment Allegedly Sheds Majority of Highguard Development Team
Wildlight Entertainment has reportedly let go of the majority of its Highguard development team shortly after the game’s launch. The free-to-play raid shooter was released on January 26, amidst mixed reviews from players and critics alike.
Details of the Layoffs
According to Alex Graner, a former level designer at Wildlight, many team members received layoff notices recently. Graner shared this information on LinkedIn, expressing disappointment over the situation. He noted that a significant amount of unreleased content for Highguard was in the works, and the layoffs might mean this content may never see the light of day.
Game Launch and Reception
The game debuted after being featured as the concluding title at The Game Awards 2025 in December. However, audience reception was lukewarm, possibly due to its ending placement and a complex first-person shooter style. Despite this, Highguard became available for free on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
