Apple Unveils AirTag with Enhanced Range and Louder Speaker
Apple has officially released an upgraded version of its popular AirTag, enhancing both its range and sound quality. The announcement was made via a press release on Monday morning, marking the arrival of the long-rumored update.
Enhanced Features of the New AirTag
The refreshed AirTag boasts a significant increase in item-finding range and volume. It is now capable of using the same ultra-wideband technology found in Apple’s latest iPhones and Apple Watches. This advancement allows the Precision Finding feature to function at distances up to 50% greater than its predecessor.
Pricing and Availability
The new AirTag is available immediately, maintaining the same pricing structure as earlier models. Consumers can purchase it for:
- $29 for a single AirTag
- $99 for a four-pack
Currently, the AirTag 2 is not listed on Amazon, but it can be purchased directly from the Apple store.
Improved Audio and Sharing Features
Another noteworthy upgrade is the speaker, which is 50% louder than that of previous models. This improvement aids users in locating their misplaced items more effectively. Additionally, the new AirTag integrates with the “Share Item Location” feature within the Find My app on iOS. This allows users to securely share the location of a lost item with others, such as airline staff for tracking lost luggage.
While this release may not be the highly anticipated foldable iPhone arriving in 2026, it certainly begins the year on a positive note for Apple.
